This is the black socket version of our armoured outdoor extension lead, supplied without RCD protection for anyone who prefers to rely on their existing fuseboard or consumer unit protection instead. It's a genuinely permanent solution for bringing power outdoors — for a garden project, washing the car, or DIY in the shed — at a fraction of the cost of calling out an electrician. Choose to have it wired up ready to bury underground, or cleated along a wall to route power exactly where you need it.

How it works: you get 2 metres of flex cable running from the plug into a junction box, which then converts into armoured cable for the rest of the run. The flex section can be disconnected and fed through a wall to your nearest indoor socket, while the armoured cable is cleated along the wall (or buried) to carry power to wherever you need it.

Why armoured cable holds up outdoors: it's protected by three layers — thick rubber, steel wire armour, and a rubber inner core — giving it genuine physical protection against damage, including from rodents, which a standard cable left outdoors is far more vulnerable to.
