Product Information & Accuracy Policy
What you read on the page is what arrives at your door.
This policy explains how we source, check and correct the descriptions, images, specifications, pricing and availability shown for every Outdoor Extension Lead, Armoured Outdoor Extension Lead, Electrical Supply and Sofa we sell — and what to do if you ever spot something that doesn't look right.
We would rather under-promise than have you unbox a surprise.
Every listing across our four ranges — Outdoor Extension Leads, Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, Electrical Supplies and Sofas — is written and checked so that what you see on the page matches what arrives at your door: the same cable length, the same IP rating, the same fabric, the same price.
If we ever get a detail wrong, we would rather you tell us and let us fix it than find out from a return.
This policy explains how our product data is sourced and verified, what natural variation you should expect (screen colours, fabric batches, cable coiling), and exactly how to report anything that looks inaccurate. It sits alongside, and does not replace, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Cable specifications, ratings and certifications are taken from BASEC test documentation and manufacturer datasheets for the components we use. Dimensions and materials for sofas are taken from the manufacturer's technical sheet and cross-checked against a physical sample before a listing goes live.
Product titles, descriptions and specification tables are written in-house by our own team, in plain English, directly from that verified data — never auto-generated from unrelated templates or copied from a third-party marketplace listing.
Cut cable lengths are accurate to within a small, industry-standard tolerance to allow for termination and stripping at each end. Sofa dimensions are given in centimetres and, like most upholstered furniture, may vary by up to approximately 2–3 cm across a production batch.
Where we state an IP rating, a BASEC approval, BS 7671 compliance, or a fire-safety compliance, that claim is only published once the underlying certification or test evidence for that specific product line has been checked by our team.
When a supplier updates a specification, changes a certification, or discontinues a component, we update the affected listing before continuing to sell it — we do not knowingly leave outdated technical claims live.
Photographed for accuracy, not just for effect.
Product photography is taken of the actual item or an identical production sample — not stock imagery from a supplier's marketing library — and edited only for lighting and background, never to alter colour, shape or proportion.
Sofa colours can appear slightly different from photos due to individual screen calibration and natural variation between fabric dye batches. Where colour match matters to you, contact us before ordering and we'll confirm details or offer a swatch reference where available.
Extension lead photography may show the cable coiled for display. The length stated in the listing and selected at checkout — not the coil's visual size in the photo — is the length that is cut and shipped.
Where a listing includes a size comparison or scale reference (for example, a plug next to a coin or a sofa in a room setting), that reference is illustrative and the stated dimensions always take precedence.
Every price shown is in Pound Sterling and includes any VAT applicable at checkout, in line with the Price Marking Order 2004. The price on the product page is the price you pay for the item itself, before shipping.
We do not add undisclosed mandatory fees at checkout. Any optional cost — such as express shipping at a flat £30.00 — is clearly presented as optional before you confirm your order, in line with the pricing-transparency requirements of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
Where we show a "was/now" price or a percentage saving, the reference price reflects a price the product was genuinely offered at for a reasonable period beforehand, consistent with the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the DMCCA 2024's rules against fake or misleading discount claims.
If a pricing error occurs — for example, a listing published with an incorrect price due to a technical fault — we will contact you before processing the order to confirm the correct price, and you may cancel free of charge if you don't wish to proceed at the corrected price.
Stock levels update as orders come in.
Availability shown on each listing reflects our live inventory at the time of your visit. Electrical Supplies and Sofas are held as physical stock; Outdoor Extension Leads and Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads are made to order once you check out, so "in stock" reflects raw materials and production capacity rather than a finished, boxed item.
On the rare occasion an item becomes unavailable after you've ordered, we contact you within one business day to offer a substitute, a short delay, or a full refund — your choice, never assumed.
Read the Shipping PolicyOutdoor Extension Leads
Length is cut to the exact figure selected at checkout, within standard termination tolerance. IP ratings apply to the plug/socket enclosure, not the entire cable run.
Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads
Steel-wire-armour gauge and colour (black or grey) are confirmed against the specific SKU ordered. Weight figures shown are approximate due to natural variation in armour wire.
Electrical Supplies
Sockets, glands, junction boxes and plugs are listed with the manufacturer's stated rating and dimensions. Compatible fittings are confirmed against the exact part number shown, not a generic category description.
Sofas
Frame material, fabric composition, seat depth and overall dimensions are listed from the manufacturer's spec sheet. Fire-safety labelling required by law is fitted to every unit and must not be removed.
Where customer reviews or ratings appear on our website, they are genuine submissions from verified purchasers — we do not write, edit, or pay for reviews, and we do not remove a genuine negative review because it is unflattering.
Stock counters, "limited availability" messages, and delivery countdown timers reflect real inventory and real cut-off times as described in Section 05 and our Shipping Policy — never an artificial urgency device — in line with the fairness requirements of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
Tell us. We would genuinely rather know.
If any description, image, specification, price or stock status looks wrong, email us with a link to the listing and a short description of what looks inaccurate.
Email info@outdoorextensionleads.co.uk with the product link and details of the inaccuracy, or use live chat on our website.
We aim to acknowledge every report within 1 business day and confirm the outcome of our review within 5 business days.
We correct the listing promptly. If the error affected your specific order — for example, you received something that didn't match a since-corrected description — this is treated as a not-as-described issue under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, with a repair, replacement, refund or price reduction as appropriate.
This policy is written to comply with the UK laws that govern accurate product information, pricing and advertising for online retail.
Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008
Prohibits misleading actions and omissions — including false claims about a product's characteristics, availability or price — and unfair commercial practices generally. Our listings, pricing and promotional messaging are written to comply with this at all times.
Consumer Rights Act 2015
Requires goods to match their description, be of satisfactory quality and be fit for purpose. A material mismatch between listing and delivered product is treated as a fault under this Act, regardless of what caused the discrepancy.
Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013
Requires clear pre-contract information on the main characteristics of goods, total price including tax, and delivery arrangements, before you complete a purchase — reflected in the specification tables and checkout summary on every listing.
Price Marking Order 2004
Requires the selling price of goods to be unambiguous, easily identifiable and clearly legible — which is why every listing shows one clear, VAT-inclusive price rather than a base price with fees revealed later.
Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024
Strengthens enforcement against fake reviews, drip pricing, false urgency claims and misleading discounts, and underpins Sections 04 and 07 of this policy.
General Product Safety Regulations & product-specific safety law
Any safety-relevant claim — an IP rating, a BASEC approval, BS 7671 compliance, or fire-safety compliance — is treated with the same accuracy standard as a legal safety representation, not a marketing detail.
