Intellectual Property & Trademark Policy
What's ours, what isn't, and how we protect both.
This page explains who owns the content, designs and brand names on this website, how third-party marks referenced here are used, and what to do if you believe intellectual property — yours or ours — has been misused.
We built our name — and we respect everyone else's.
We are INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD, trading as OUTDOOR EXTENSION LEADS, selling Outdoor Extension Leads, Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, Electrical Supplies and Sofas through www.outdoorextensionleads.co.uk. The photography, product copy, specifications, layout and code on this site represent real work by our team, and we take unauthorised copying of it seriously.
The armoured extension lead in our range exists because we solved a problem no one else had solved properly. That kind of work deserves protecting — and we extend the same respect to every other brand and creator whose marks appear on this site.
This policy sets out what we own, how you may use it, how third-party trademarks referenced on our site are used, and how to report a concern in either direction. It sits alongside our Terms of Service and does not replace any right you or we hold under UK law.
The following names, marks and materials belong to INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD, whether or not they carry a ® or ™ symbol on any given page.
"OUTDOOR EXTENSION LEADS" and our associated logo, as used across our website, packaging and Instagram presence.
"INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD", our registered company name at Companies House under number 16845629.
Outdoor Extension Leads, Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, Electrical Supplies and Sofas, together with the product titles, model references and descriptions used on our own listings.
All original product photography, written descriptions, category copy, this website's HTML/CSS design system, and the illustrations used throughout our policy pages.
Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, original literary and artistic works are protected automatically from the moment they are created — no registration is required. This covers our product photography, written descriptions, category and policy page text, and the visual design of this website.
Copyright in this content belongs to INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD unless we state otherwise, and it remains ours whether or not a © symbol appears on the page.
You are welcome to link to our pages, share a product page on social media, or quote a short passage with a link back to us and clear attribution. You may not copy our product photography, descriptions, or page layouts for use on another website, marketplace listing, or printed material without our written permission — including for reselling the same physical products.
Some names, certification marks and payment logos on our site belong to other organisations. We reference them only to describe compatibility, certification or accepted payment methods — never to suggest sponsorship or endorsement.
References to BASEC, BS 7671, UKCA and CE relate to independent certification and regulatory standards our electrical products are tested and manufactured against. These marks belong to their respective certification and standards bodies, not to us.
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Discover, Diners Club, UnionPay, PayPal, Apple Pay, Shop Pay and Google Pay logos shown at checkout are the trademarks of their respective owners and are displayed solely to show accepted payment methods.
Shopify and Instagram marks referenced on this site, including our Instagram handle link, belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe the platforms our store and social presence run on.
Permitted
Linking to our pages, sharing a product listing on social media with attribution, and quoting short passages of our text with a link back to us.
Permitted
Referring to our brand and product names factually — for example in a genuine customer review, comparison article, or press coverage.
Not permitted
Copying our product photography, descriptions or page design to list the same or similar products on another website or marketplace.
Not permitted
Using "OUTDOOR EXTENSION LEADS", our logo, or a confusingly similar name to sell, market or advertise unrelated or unauthorised products.
The Registered Designs Act 1949 and the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 also protect the appearance and configuration of physical products, not just written or photographic content.
Outdoor Extension Leads
The specific combination of cable, weatherproof socket housing and connector layout used across this range reflects our own design work.
Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads
The armoured extension lead configuration was developed by us specifically to solve permanent outdoor power safely, and we treat it as one of our core proprietary designs.
Electrical Supplies
Third-party manufactured components are sold under their own manufacturer branding where applicable, and remain the intellectual property of those manufacturers.
Sofas
Fabric selection, silhouette and frame configuration for our curated sofa range are chosen and specified by us as part of our own product development.
We only sell through our own website.
OUTDOOR EXTENSION LEADS products are sold exclusively through www.outdoorextensionleads.co.uk. We do not currently operate storefronts on third-party marketplaces, and we have not authorised any other retailer to sell products under our brand name.
If you see products described as "OUTDOOR EXTENSION LEADS" or "Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads" being sold anywhere other than our own website, or see our product photography or descriptions used on another listing, please treat it with caution and report it to us using the details in Section 08. We cannot guarantee the safety, specification or warranty of any product not purchased directly from us.
If you find our name, logo, product photography, listing copy or product design being used without our permission — on another website, a marketplace listing, or printed material — tell us.
Please include a link or location where you saw the material, a description of what you believe is being misused, and, if known, how it is being used. We review every report and aim to acknowledge it within one business day.
We take third-party rights seriously and want to correct any genuine mistake quickly. If you believe any content on this website — an image, a piece of text, a product name or a design element — infringes your intellectual property rights, contact us with the details below.
Please provide: a description of the material you believe is infringing and where it appears on our site; a description of the work or mark you believe it infringes and evidence of your ownership; and your contact details. We will investigate promptly, and where a claim is valid, remove or amend the material without unnecessary delay. We may contact you for further information before taking action.
The specific pieces of UK law that shape this policy, in plain terms.
Trade Marks Act 1994
Governs the protection of registered and unregistered trademarks in the UK, including brand names and logos. It also protects against use of a mark that is likely to confuse consumers about the origin of goods, which underpins Section 05 of this policy.
Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988
Automatically protects original literary, artistic and design works — including our product photography, written content and site design — from the moment they are created, without requiring formal registration.
Registered Designs Act 1949
Allows the visual appearance of a product — its shape, configuration or ornamentation — to be formally registered and protected. This applies to the distinctive design work behind ranges such as our Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads.
Passing off (common law)
A long-standing common law protection against a trader misrepresenting their goods as being those of, or connected with, another business — for example, by using a confusingly similar name, logo or product presentation to imply an association with us that does not exist.
Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002
Sets baseline transparency requirements for UK online businesses, including clear identification of who operates a website. We meet this through the company information set out in Section 12 of this page and throughout our Legal Notice.
We escalate proportionately, but we do escalate.
Where we identify unauthorised use of our brand, content or product designs, our first step is normally a direct request to stop. Where that is ignored, or where the misuse involves counterfeit goods, deliberate impersonation or consumer harm, we reserve the right to pursue formal legal remedies available to us under the Acts listed in Section 10, including seeking removal of infringing listings, damages, or injunctive relief.
Equally, where a valid claim is raised against us under Section 09, we will act on it promptly and in good faith.
