Payment Policy
Clear pricing. Secure checkout. No surprises at the till.
This page explains, in plain English, exactly how payment works when you buy an Outdoor Extension Lead, Armoured Outdoor Extension Lead, Electrical Supply or Sofa from us — which payment methods we accept, how and when you're charged, how your card details are protected, and the legal protections that sit behind every transaction.
One straightforward payment system, whatever you're buying.
This Payment Policy explains how payment is taken, processed and protected when you order from OUTDOOR EXTENSION LEADS, a trading name of INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD (Company No. 16845629, England & Wales).
It applies to every product category we sell — Outdoor Extension Leads, Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, Electrical Supplies and Sofas — and to every customer checking out on our website, whether you're a homeowner ordering a single made-to-order lead or a trade customer placing a bulk Electrical Supplies order.
This policy sits alongside, and does not reduce, your statutory rights under UK consumer law, or the terms set out in our Shipping Policy, Return & Refund Policy and Terms of Service.
We accept the following payment methods at checkout. Every method is offered directly through our checkout — none require you to leave our website or contact us separately.

Cards
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Discover, Diners Club, Elo and UnionPay are all accepted, entered securely at checkout or saved via your browser or device wallet.
Digital wallets
Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay let you check out using the card already saved on your phone or browser, without retyping card details.
PayPal
Pay using your existing PayPal balance, linked card or linked bank account, authorised through PayPal's own secure login — we never see your PayPal password.
Availability of certain wallets (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay) depends on the browser and device you are using to check out; if a method is not offered, an alternative from the list above will still be available.
The price on the page is the price you pay.
All prices displayed on our website — for Outdoor Extension Leads, Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, Electrical Supplies and Sofas alike — are shown in Pound Sterling (£) and include any UK VAT applicable at the point of sale. Delivery charges, where they apply, are shown separately and clearly before you confirm payment.
We do not currently offer checkout in any currency other than GBP. If you pay using a card or account issued outside the United Kingdom, your bank or card provider may convert the GBP amount into your local currency and may apply its own exchange rate and foreign transaction fee — this is set by your card issuer, not by us, and we have no visibility of or control over that conversion rate.
Made-to-order Outdoor Extension Leads and Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads are priced according to the length and specification you select before adding the item to your cart; the confirmed price at checkout reflects the exact specification you chose.
We take reasonable care to ensure every listed price is accurate. If a pricing error is ever identified before your order is dispatched, we will contact you with the correct price and give you the choice to proceed at the corrected price or cancel for a full refund, in line with the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.
Your card details never reach our servers.
All payments on our website are processed through Shopify's payment infrastructure (Shopify Payments and supported third-party gateways for PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay). We never see, store, or have access to your full card number, CVV or card PIN.
Our checkout is protected by TLS/SSL encryption, and every card transaction is processed in line with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Payments made through PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay are authenticated directly within that provider's own secure environment using your device passcode, biometric login or account password.
Where a card issuer requires it, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) — such as a one-time code, banking app confirmation, or biometric check — is applied at checkout under the UK Payment Services Regulations 2017. This is an additional identity check carried out by your bank, not by us, and helps prevent your card being used without your knowledge.
We do not store your full payment card details on our own systems at any point, whether before, during or after your order is placed.
You choose a payment method and enter or confirm your details at checkout.
Your bank or payment provider approves or declines the transaction, sometimes with an SCA check.
Once authorised, you receive an order confirmation email and payment receipt by email.
Your order enters our processing queue as described in our Shipping Policy.
Payment is authorised and taken in full at the time you place your order, not on dispatch. This applies to every product category, including made-to-order Outdoor Extension Leads and Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, which are cut and wired to your specification once payment has cleared.
Placing an order and receiving an order confirmation email constitutes an offer by you to purchase, which we accept when we confirm your order; a legally binding contract is formed at that point, in line with our Terms of Service. Your statutory cancellation rights, described in Section 09 of our Return & Refund Policy and Section 09 of our About Us page, apply from this point.
Outdoor Extension Leads & Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads
Because each of these is hand-assembled or cut to the exact length and specification you choose, we take payment in full at checkout to confirm your specification and begin processing — not on a "pay later, cut now" basis. Please double-check the length and options you need before paying, as these items are excluded from our voluntary 30-day return window (except where faulty), as explained in our Return & Refund Policy.
Electrical Supplies & Sofas
These are held as standard stock or produced against normal supplier lead times rather than to individual customer specification, so payment is taken at checkout in the same way, and they carry the full 30-day return window described in our Return & Refund Policy, subject to its normal eligibility conditions.
If we can't fulfil your order, you don't lose out.
Stock levels are updated as orders come in, but on the rare occasion an item becomes unavailable after your payment has been authorised — for example, a sofa fabric batch selling out, or a component shortage affecting Electrical Supplies — we will contact you within one business day using the email or phone number provided at checkout.
You will be offered a substitute item of equal value, a short delay while stock is replenished, or a full refund to your original payment method — the choice is yours. We will never substitute an item or keep your payment without your agreement.
Promotional & discount codes
Where we run a promotion, the discount code must be entered at checkout before payment is authorised; discounts cannot be applied retrospectively to an order that has already been paid for. Promotional codes are subject to any specific terms shown at the time of the offer, such as minimum spend, eligible product ranges, or expiry dates.
Gift cards
Where we issue Shopify-based gift cards, they can be redeemed as full or partial payment at checkout. Gift cards themselves are excluded from our Return & Refund Policy once issued, in line with standard practice for stored-value instruments, but goods purchased using a gift card carry exactly the same statutory and policy rights as goods bought by card or wallet.
No payment, no order — and nothing hidden about why.
If your bank or payment provider declines a transaction, or your session times out before payment completes, no order is created, no stock is reserved against your basket, and no charge is applied. You will typically see an on-screen message and can retry with the same or a different payment method.
Common reasons for a decline include insufficient funds, an incorrect card number, expiry date or CVV, a bank's own fraud controls, or a failed Strong Customer Authentication step. We do not have visibility of the specific reason your bank declines a payment — this information sits with your card issuer, and we would recommend contacting them directly if a decline persists.
If you believe you have been charged for an order that does not appear in your account or order confirmation emails, contact us using the details in Section 16 and we will investigate with our payment processor.
Every order is automatically screened by our payment providers' fraud-detection systems, which assess factors such as billing and delivery address matching, device and IP signals, and transaction patterns, before a payment is authorised.
Where offered by your card issuer, we use Address Verification Service (AVS) and CVV checks to confirm that the billing details entered match those held by your card issuer.
A small number of orders — particularly large-value or bulk Electrical Supplies orders, or first-time high-value Sofa orders — may be held for a brief manual review before processing begins. We will contact you promptly if we need any further information to release your order.
We reserve the right to cancel and fully refund an order where we reasonably suspect it involves fraudulent card use, a compromised account, or a breach of our Terms of Service, and to notify the relevant authorities where required by law.
Refunds go back exactly where the money came from.
Every refund we issue — whether for a return, a cancellation, a stock shortage, or a resolved dispute — is paid back to the original payment method used for the order. We cannot issue a refund to a different card, account or wallet than the one used to pay.
Once a return is received and approved, or a refund is otherwise agreed, we process it within 10 business days, as set out in our Return & Refund Policy. Your bank, card issuer or payment provider (including PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay's underlying card networks) may then take a few additional days to post the funds back to your account or statement — this final step is outside our control.
Where a refund relates to a statutory cancellation under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, we will refund you no later than 14 days after we receive the returned goods (or evidence you have sent them), including the standard delivery cost you paid, using the same payment method you used for the original transaction.
These protections exist by law and by the rules of the card and payment networks — they apply on top of anything in this policy.
Chargeback rights under card scheme rules
If a payment on your card statement is unauthorised, or goods you paid for never arrive and we are unable to resolve this directly with you, you may be entitled to raise a chargeback with your card issuer under the relevant card scheme's rules (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and others each operate their own chargeback process). We would always ask that you contact us first at the details in Section 16, so we can try to resolve the issue directly and quickly, but this is not a condition of your right to raise a chargeback.
Section 75 Consumer Credit Act 1974
If you pay any part of an order between £100 and £30,000 using a UK credit card, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 may make your credit card provider jointly liable with us if goods are faulty, not as described, or not supplied. This is a right against your credit provider and does not depend on anything in this policy.
Payment Services Regulations 2017
UK payment law requires Strong Customer Authentication for most online card payments and gives you rights around unauthorised transactions, including the ability to request a refund from your payment services provider for a transaction you did not authorise, subject to the timescales and conditions set by your bank.
How this interacts with our own policies
Raising a chargeback or Section 75 claim does not remove your right to a direct refund from us under our Return & Refund Policy, and vice versa — but we would ask that you do not pursue both routes for the same order at the same time, to avoid delay or double recovery.
We handle payment data as little as possible — by design.
INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD is the data controller for personal information collected through this website, and processes it in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Full card numbers, CVV codes and full payment credentials are collected and processed directly by our PCI DSS-compliant payment providers, not by us. We retain only the minimum transaction information needed for order records, accounting, fraud prevention and statutory tax obligations, such as the order total, payment method type, and the last four digits of a card where provided by our payment processor.
Read our full Privacy PolicyThis Payment Policy, and the payment methods, security standards and statutory protections it describes, apply equally and identically to customers checking out from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We do not vary payment methods, pricing structure or currency by UK nation.
Consumer protection law relevant to payment — including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 — is UK-wide legislation, though day-to-day enforcement and advice is provided through Trading Standards services and, in Northern Ireland, through Trading Standards Service (Northern Ireland) and the Consumer Council. Your rights under this policy do not depend on which UK nation you order from.
All prices are charged in Pound Sterling regardless of which UK nation you are ordering from or to, including where a Scottish or Northern Irish bank note or account is involved — GBP is a single currency across the UK for the purposes of this checkout.
We currently sell and take payment for delivery within the United Kingdom only. Our checkout does not accept non-UK delivery addresses, so no cross-border payment, customs duty or import VAT arises on any order placed through this website.
Updates are always dated, right here.
We may update this Payment Policy from time to time to reflect new payment methods we start accepting, changes to our payment providers, or changes to applicable UK law. Any change will be published on this page with a revised "last updated" date shown below.
Changes will not apply retrospectively to reduce the payment terms, security standards or refund rights that applied to an order you have already placed and paid for.
