Shipping policy
Shipping Policy
This policy explains exactly how and when your order from OUTDOOR EXTENSION LEADS, operated by INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD, will reach you — our cut-off times, processing and transit times, which couriers we use, and the statutory delivery protections you hold under UK consumer law. We currently ship to UK addresses only.
UK-based, UK-only, and honest about timing.
We are a UK-based business and currently ship to addresses within the United Kingdom only — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We do not offer international delivery at this time.
Orders placed before 12:00 PM, Monday to Saturday (UTC+00:00, Greenwich Mean Time, London) are processed the same day; anything placed after that cut-off, or on a Sunday, is processed the next business day. Standard delivery is free of charge on every order and takes 1–2 business days once dispatched; Express delivery is a flat £30.00 for next-day delivery. Full detail is set out section by section below.
The clock that decides when your order leaves us.
"Business days" for the purposes of this policy means Monday to Saturday, excluding Sundays and English bank holidays — see Section 12 for how bank holidays affect these timings.
Free as standard. Fast when you need it.
1–2 business days in transit once dispatched (Monday–Saturday). Free of charge on every order, with no minimum spend required.
Next-business-day delivery for a flat rate of £30.00, available on orders placed before the 12:00 PM cut-off, Monday to Saturday.
All delivery prices shown at checkout include VAT where applicable, in line with the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 requirements to display delivery costs clearly before you complete your purchase. The price you see at checkout is the final delivery price — no hidden handling fees are added afterwards.
From checkout to your door.
Before 12:00 PM = same-day; after 12:00 PM or Sunday = next business day.
Standard: 1–2 business days. Express: next business day.
Trusted national networks, matched to the item.
We select the right courier for the size and nature of your order. Depending on what you buy and where you are located, your order may be dispatched with:
Small parcels, including individual Electrical Supplies components
Outdoor Extension Leads and Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, with hour-of-delivery tracking
Standard-service parcels for Electrical Supplies orders
Express next-day parcel deliveries
Trade and bulk Electrical Supplies orders
Two-person specialist delivery for Sofas, including room-of-choice service where booked
We may change or add courier partners at any time to maintain reliable UK-wide coverage; this does not change the delivery timescales or costs set out in this policy.
You will always know where your order is.
Once your order is dispatched, we send you a shipping confirmation email containing a tracking number and a link to follow your parcel's progress directly with the courier handling your delivery. For sofa deliveries, our two-person delivery partner will typically contact you directly to confirm a delivery slot before arrival.
If you have not received a tracking update within the expected timescale for your delivery option, please contact us using the details in Section 18 and we will chase this with the courier on your behalf.
All of the UK. No international shipping, currently.
We deliver to residential and business addresses across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. At checkout, you will only be able to select a UK delivery address — we do not currently accept or process orders for delivery outside the United Kingdom, including to the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, or any other country.
We are unable to deliver to PO Boxes or British Forces Post Office (BFPO) addresses, as our couriers require a physical delivery address for signature and, for sofas, room-of-choice access.
Your statutory delivery protection, explained.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, unless we have agreed a specific delivery date with you, goods must be delivered without undue delay and, at the very latest, within 30 days of your order being placed. Our stated timescales in this policy are considerably shorter than this legal maximum, and we aim to meet them on every order.
If we miss an agreed delivery date, or the 30-day statutory maximum, you can ask us to redeliver within a further reasonable period. If we fail to meet that new deadline too, or if you told us at the time of ordering that a specific delivery date was essential (for example, for an installation appointment) and we miss it, you are entitled to treat the contract as at an end and receive a full refund.
If a delay is caused by something outside our reasonable control — such as severe weather, industrial action affecting a courier network, or an unforeseeable event — we will keep you informed and will not treat this as a breach of this policy, without prejudice to your statutory rights above where a delay becomes unreasonable.
If nobody is in when the courier calls.
If a courier is unable to deliver your parcel — for example, because nobody is available to receive it or, for sofas, to sign for a two-person delivery — the courier will normally leave a card with instructions to rearrange delivery or collect from a local depot or safe place, depending on the service used.
If a parcel is returned to us as undeliverable because incorrect delivery details were provided at checkout, we will contact you to arrange redelivery; a further delivery charge may apply in these circumstances, which we will confirm with you before charging it. This does not affect your statutory rights where a delivery failure is our fault or the courier's fault.
Every range travels a little differently.
As each lead is hand-assembled to your exact specification, your 1 business day processing time begins only once your specification is confirmed at checkout. Delivery then follows the Standard or Express timescale you selected.
Held as standard stock, so processing typically completes well within the 1-business-day window before dispatch by DPD or a comparable tracked carrier, given the weight of armoured cable.
Smaller components are typically sent via Royal Mail or Evri; larger trade and bulk orders may be palletised and sent via UPS or a dedicated pallet carrier, which can extend the delivery window slightly — we will confirm this at checkout if it applies to your order.
Delivered by a two-person specialist furniture courier such as ArrowXL, who will contact you to book a delivery slot. Please measure doorways, stairwells and access routes in advance; we are not able to guarantee delivery into a specific room if genuine access issues are discovered on the day.
The goods are our responsibility until they reach you.
Under Section 29 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods remain at our risk until they come into your physical possession or that of a person you have identified to take delivery on your behalf. This means that if an item is lost or damaged in transit before it reaches you, that is our responsibility to resolve, not yours — please see our Return & Refund Policy for how we handle faulty or damaged deliveries. Ownership of the goods transfers to you once we have received payment in full.
Sundays and bank holidays do not count.
All cut-off, processing and transit times in this policy are calculated in business days, defined as Monday to Saturday, excluding Sundays and UK bank and public holidays. Because bank holiday dates differ slightly between England & Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, orders placed around a bank holiday specific to your nation or region may be processed a day later than usual; where this applies, we will show an updated estimated dispatch date at checkout or in your order confirmation.
Larger orders, arranged around your site.
Electricians and contractors placing large or palletised Electrical Supplies orders can contact us before ordering to arrange a specific delivery window, kerbside or goods-in delivery, or a consolidated dispatch across multiple items. Business customers ordering for delivery to a commercial site should ensure someone is available to receive and sign for the delivery, as our couriers may not be able to leave commercial deliveries unattended.
One policy, with a few honest regional notes.
The delivery rights and timescales in this policy apply equally to customers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and Consumer Rights Act 2015 are UK-wide statutes. However, courier networks can genuinely take longer to reach some parts of the UK, and we want to be upfront about this rather than promise a timescale we cannot meet:
Standard and Express delivery to postcodes in the Scottish Highlands, Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland may take an additional 1–2 business days beyond the timescales stated in Sections 02–03, particularly for Sofas requiring a two-person delivery.
Delivery to Northern Ireland is fully supported, though transit times for Standard delivery may occasionally extend to 2–3 business days, and Express next-day delivery may not be available on every postcode; we will confirm this at checkout before you pay.
These are outside our current delivery coverage, as they fall outside standard UK mainland courier networks and are treated the same as international addresses for the purposes of this policy.
If the courier lets you down, we put it right.
If your order arrives visibly damaged, please note this on the courier's delivery record where possible and take photographs before opening the packaging further. If a parcel is marked as delivered but has not arrived, or has been in transit significantly beyond the expected delivery window, contact us and we will open an investigation with the courier.
Because goods remain at our risk until they reach you, as explained in Section 11, we will replace or refund a lost or damaged order at no extra cost to you while any courier investigation is ongoing — you should never be left out of pocket while we resolve this with our delivery partner.
Not offered — stated plainly, not buried in small print.
We currently sell and ship exclusively within the United Kingdom. We do not accept orders for delivery outside the UK, and our checkout will not allow a non-UK delivery address to be entered. We have no customs duties, import taxes, or cross-border delivery charges to disclose, because no international shipment takes place. If we introduce international shipping in the future, this policy will be updated in advance to explain the countries covered, delivery costs, and any customs or import responsibilities that would apply.
Updates are always dated clearly, right here.
We may update this Shipping Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our couriers, delivery timescales, or applicable UK law. Any change will be published on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Changes will not apply retrospectively to reduce the delivery terms that applied to an order you have already placed and not yet received.
