Terms of service
Terms of Service
These Terms of Service set out, in plain English, the agreement between you and INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD (trading as OUTDOOR EXTENSION LEADS) whenever you browse outdoorextensionleads.co.uk or order an Outdoor Extension Lead, an Armoured Outdoor Extension Lead, Electrical Supplies or a Sofa from us. Please read them carefully before placing an order.
The agreement you are entering into when you order from us.
Outdoor Extension Leads is the trading name of INDOOR & OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS LTD, a company registered in England & Wales under company number 16845629, with our registered office at 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, Return & Refund Policy and Shipping Policy, govern every visit you make to outdoorextensionleads.co.uk and every order you place with us for an Outdoor Extension Lead, an Armoured Outdoor Extension Lead, an item from our Electrical Supplies range, or a Sofa.
By browsing our website, creating an account, or placing an order, you confirm that you accept these Terms of Service in full. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not place an order and contact us using the details in Section 25 so we can help.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to place an order with us, because we sell mains-voltage electrical products and furniture that require an adult purchaser under UK consumer contract law. Nothing in these Terms of Service affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, both of which are explained in detail below.
Four ranges, each described as accurately as we can manage.
We sell across four product ranges. Each product page sets out the specification, materials, dimensions, certification and price that apply to that specific item, and those product-page details take priority over any general description given elsewhere on the site.
IP66-rated, CE-approved flex cable extension leads, made to order to the cable length, socket configuration and colour you select at checkout, for everyday outdoor power needs such as garden lighting, hot tubs and events.
Steel wire armoured cable intended for permanent or semi-permanent outdoor power installations, also made to your specified length, and built to withstand long-term outdoor exposure.
Component parts such as IP66 outdoor sockets, SWA cable glands, transparent 13A plugs and related fittings, sold both to homeowners undertaking DIY work and to electricians and trade contractors.
Upholstered furniture for the home, extending our practical, "power and comfort" approach from the garden into the living room.
We describe every product as accurately as possible, including images, dimensions, materials and certification marks. Colours may appear slightly different on your screen due to display settings, and minor variations in cable length (within normal manufacturing tolerance) or fabric batch on sofas can occur, none of which affect the product's function or your statutory rights.
Priced in pounds sterling, and corrected honestly if we get it wrong.
All prices on our website are shown in Pounds Sterling (GBP) and, where UK VAT applies to a product, the price shown is inclusive of that VAT. The total price you pay, including any express shipping charge selected at checkout, is confirmed on the order summary page before you complete payment.
We take reasonable care to make sure prices displayed on the website are correct at the time they are published. Occasionally, despite our best efforts, a product may be listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical, system or pricing-feed error. If we discover a pricing error on an order you have placed, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible to let you know, and will give you the option to either confirm your order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund. We will never charge your payment method for a corrected higher price without your agreement first.
Prices may change at any time, but changes will never affect an order you have already placed and had confirmed by us. Any discount codes, sale prices or promotional offers are subject to the specific terms displayed alongside that offer and may be withdrawn or amended at any time before an order using that offer is placed.
When you place an order through our checkout, you are making an offer to buy the products in your basket on these terms. That offer is not accepted by us simply because you have completed payment. Instead, a binding contract is formed at the point we send you an order confirmation email confirming that we have accepted your order.
In rare cases we may be unable to accept or fulfil an order — for example, where a product is out of stock, where we identify a pricing or listing error, where our payment processor's fraud checks flag the payment for review and it cannot be verified, or where the delivery address falls outside the United Kingdom. If this happens, we will contact you promptly and will not charge you for any part of the order we cannot fulfil; if payment has already been taken, we will refund it in full.
You are responsible for checking your order — including product specifications such as cable length and socket configuration, delivery address, and contact details — before submitting it, as these details are used to manufacture and dispatch your order. If you notice an error, contact us immediately using the details in Section 25, as we may not be able to make changes once production or dispatch has begun.
Full payment is taken securely at checkout.
We accept the following payment methods through our Shopify checkout: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Discover, Diners Club, Elo and UnionPay cards, together with PayPal, Apple Pay, Shop Pay and Google Pay. Full payment is required at the point of order for all products, including made-to-order Outdoor Extension Leads and Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, before we begin manufacturing or processing your order.
All payments are processed by regulated, PCI-DSS compliant payment providers integrated with Shopify's checkout. We do not receive or store your full card number, expiry date or CVV on our own systems. Where a payment is declined, flagged for additional verification, or reversed as a chargeback without a valid reason, we reserve the right to cancel the associated order, request further identity or payment verification, or pursue recovery of the amount owed, in each case acting reasonably and in line with UK law.
Unlike a product picked from a shelf, every Outdoor Extension Lead and Armoured Outdoor Extension Lead is hand-assembled to the cable length, socket configuration and colour you select at checkout, and is individually PAT tested before it is dispatched to you. This means your order is manufactured specifically to your specification rather than taken from generic pre-made stock.
Because these items are made to your personal specification, this affects certain cancellation and return rights differently from a standard, off-the-shelf product such as an item from our Electrical Supplies range or a Sofa. Section 08 explains your statutory cancellation rights, and Section 09 explains our own returns policy, including how each applies to made-to-order cable.
We ship across the UK only — here is exactly how and when.
We are based in the United Kingdom and currently ship to UK addresses only. Full detail is set out in our Shipping Policy; the key points are summarised below.
Delivery timescales are estimates based on information from our couriers and are not guaranteed delivery dates. Ownership of the products, and risk of loss or damage to them, passes to you once the products are delivered to the address you provided at checkout, except where a delivery is lost or damaged in transit due to the courier's fault, in which case we will resolve this with you directly rather than asking you to pursue the courier yourself.
For Sofa deliveries, please ensure someone aged 18 or over is available to receive the item and that reasonable access notes (such as parking restrictions, stairs or narrow doorways) are provided at checkout, as our two-person delivery teams rely on this information to deliver safely and on schedule.
A statutory 14-day cooling-off right — with one narrow, lawful exception.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, if you are a consumer buying for personal use, you generally have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of the day you (or someone you nominate) receives the goods, without giving any reason. If you cancel within this period, you then have a further 14 days to send the goods back to us, and we will refund the price you paid, including standard delivery charges, using the same payment method you used to pay, without undue delay and in any event within 14 days of receiving the goods back or evidence that you have sent them.
This statutory cancellation right applies in full to Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, all items in our Electrical Supplies range, and Sofas.
Regulation 28(1)(b) of the 2013 Regulations sets out a specific, lawful exception for goods that are made to a consumer's specification or are clearly personalised. Because standard Outdoor Extension Leads are individually hand-assembled to the exact cable length, socket configuration and colour you choose at checkout — rather than being a pre-made, off-the-shelf item — this statutory 14-day cancellation right does not apply to them. This exception does not affect your separate, non-excludable statutory rights if a lead arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, which are explained in full in Section 10.
A straightforward 30-day policy, and full detail lives in one place.
In addition to your statutory rights, we offer our own 30-day return policy on Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, Electrical Supplies and Sofas, giving you 30 days from delivery to change your mind and return an unused, resaleable item for a refund. Full step-by-step instructions, condition requirements and any return-related costs are set out in our Return & Refund Policy.
Where a return is accepted, we aim to process your refund within 10 days of receiving the returned item back at our warehouse, using the same payment method you used to pay. This 30-day, change-of-mind policy is offered in addition to, and does not reduce, your statutory rights described in Sections 08 and 10.
These rights apply to every product we sell, with no exceptions.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. This applies equally to every product we sell — Outdoor Extension Leads, Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads, Electrical Supplies and Sofas — regardless of whether the item was made to your specification. Nothing in Sections 08 or 09 above limits or excludes these rights in any way.
If a product is faulty, damaged in transit, or not as described, you have a short-term right to reject it and receive a full refund within 30 days of delivery.
You may request a repair or replacement first. If that is not possible, does not fix the fault, or is disproportionate, you may be entitled to a full refund or a price reduction. Faults found within this period are presumed to have existed at delivery unless we can show otherwise.
You may still have a claim for repair, replacement or a partial refund, but you will generally need to show that the fault was present when the product was delivered to you.
To make a claim under this section, contact us using the details in Section 25 with your order number and, where possible, photographs of the fault or damage. We will always cover reasonable return costs for a genuinely faulty, damaged or mis-described item — you should never be asked to pay to return a product that we are responsible for.
Our Outdoor Extension Leads and Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads are IP66 rated for water and dust resistance, CE approved, manufactured using BASEC-certified cable, and individually PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) tested before dispatch. These products, along with our Electrical Supplies range, are supplied in accordance with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994, and the General Product Safety Regulations, which together set the mandatory safety standards for electrical goods sold in the UK.
Sofas supplied by us comply with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended), which set fire-resistance requirements for upholstery, filling materials and covers used in domestic furniture sold in the UK.
All electrical products must be used strictly in accordance with the instructions supplied and their rated capacity (including maximum load and IP rating), must not be used if the casing, cable or plug is damaged, and should be inspected periodically for wear, particularly where used outdoors. Misuse, unauthorised modification, or use in a manner inconsistent with the product's intended purpose is outside our responsibility and is not covered under Section 10.
We supply the cable. A qualified electrician should install it.
Armoured Outdoor Extension Leads are designed for permanent or semi-permanent outdoor power installations. Where an installation involves new fixed electrical work in or around a dwelling in England and Wales — including certain permanent outdoor wiring — this may fall within the scope of Part P of the Building Regulations, and in Scotland and Northern Ireland similar building standards and wiring regulations apply. We strongly recommend that any permanent installation, and any electrical work you are not confident and competent to carry out yourself, is installed or checked by a qualified, registered electrician in accordance with BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations).
General installation notes, product guides and blog content published on our website are provided for general information only and do not constitute professional electrical, building-regulation or safety advice specific to your property. We are not responsible for losses arising from installation work carried out incorrectly, by an unqualified person, or in a manner inconsistent with the product instructions or applicable UK wiring and building regulations.
If you share installation notes, cable-run details or access instructions with us at checkout or in correspondence, we use this solely to advise on the right product and to assist delivery — it does not amount to a site survey or installation certification on our part.
A different product, the same duty of care.
Every Sofa we sell carries a fire safety label confirming compliance with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended); please do not remove this label, as it forms part of the legally required product information for domestic upholstered furniture in the UK. Care instructions specific to your fabric or frame are included with your delivery, and following them helps preserve your statutory rights in the event of a later quality dispute — for example, using unapproved cleaning products on a fabric that specifies otherwise may affect a warranty claim relating to that damage.
Please measure doorways, stairwells and access routes before ordering, and provide accurate access notes at checkout. Where a sofa cannot reasonably be delivered into the room of choice due to access restrictions not disclosed to us in advance, our delivery team may need to leave the item in the nearest safe, accessible location, and additional attempts may be chargeable.
If you are ordering Electrical Supplies as a trade professional.
Some of our Electrical Supplies range is bought by electricians and contractors for use in their own work. Where you provide a business or trading name and a VAT number and ask us to invoice a business, you confirm that you have authority to place that order on behalf of the business named, and the consumer-specific rights described in Sections 08 and 09 (statutory cancellation and our 30-day change-of-mind returns) do not apply to a purchase made wholly or mainly for the purposes of your trade, business, craft or profession, as those protections are reserved for consumers under UK consumer protection law.
Your statutory rights regarding satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and accurate description under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or, where applicable, the Sale of Goods Act 1979, continue to apply to business purchases in accordance with the relevant legislation, and Section 10 of these Terms sets out how we handle faulty or mis-described goods in practice for all customers, business and consumer alike.
A shop, not a target for misuse.
You may use outdoorextensionleads.co.uk only for lawful purposes connected with browsing our products and placing genuine orders. You must not: attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, other customers' accounts, or any non-public area of the site; introduce viruses, malicious code, or automated scraping tools; use the site to transmit unsolicited advertising or spam; place fraudulent orders or use stolen or unauthorised payment details; or otherwise interfere with the proper operation of the website.
If you create a customer account, you are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account. Please tell us immediately at info@outdoorextensionleads.co.uk if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
We may suspend or close an account, or refuse to process an order, where we reasonably believe it is being used fraudulently, abusively, or in breach of these Terms of Service, acting proportionately and, wherever practicable, after giving you the opportunity to explain.
The content of this site belongs to us, or to those who license it to us.
All content on outdoorextensionleads.co.uk — including our name, logo, product photography, written descriptions, blog articles and guides, and the overall look and feel of the site — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property laws. You may view, download and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use in connection with placing an order, but you may not reproduce, republish, distribute, or use any part of our content for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.
Any trade marks, product names or logos of third parties (such as payment providers or smart-home platforms referenced on relevant product pages) belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility or accepted payment methods.
Honest reviews help other customers. Please keep them genuine.
If you leave a product review, comment, or other content on our website, it must relate to your own genuine experience, must not be false, defamatory, obscene, or infringe anyone else's rights, and must not contain personal data about anyone other than yourself. By submitting a review or other content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce and use that content in connection with promoting our products, including on our website and marketing materials, unless you tell us otherwise.
We may remove or decline to publish any content that we reasonably consider breaches this section, and reserve the right to moderate reviews to prevent spam or abuse, without affecting the genuine opinions expressed by real customers.
Fair limits, and nothing that touches your legal protections.
Nothing in these Terms of Service excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under UK law, including your statutory rights described in Sections 08 and 10.
Subject to the above, if we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or negligence, but we are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or for any loss of profit, loss of business, or business interruption, since we supply our products for domestic and private use unless you have specifically told us otherwise as a trade customer under Section 14.
If you are a trade or business customer, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with an order is limited to the price you paid for the products giving rise to the claim, except where such a limit would be unlawful.
Responsibility for misuse rests with the person responsible for it.
Where you are a trade or business customer, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claims, losses, damages or costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your breach of these Terms of Service, your unauthorised or unsafe installation of a product, or your misuse of our website, except to the extent such claims arise from our own breach, negligence or the product not conforming to these Terms. This section does not apply to, and does not affect, your statutory rights as a consumer.
When something genuinely beyond us gets in the way.
We will not be responsible for any delay or failure to perform our obligations under these Terms of Service that is caused by an event outside our reasonable control, such as extreme weather, courier network disruption, industrial action, power or telecommunications failure, or supply chain shortages affecting raw cable or components. If such an event affects your order, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible, and where the delay is significant you will have the option to cancel the affected order for a full refund.
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — equal rights, one policy.
These Terms of Service, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes), are governed by the law of England and Wales. Every consumer protection described in these Terms — the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, and the other legislation referenced throughout — applies UK-wide, whether you are ordering from England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland; only the applicable local court system differs.
If you live in England or Wales, you can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring proceedings in either the Scottish courts or the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring proceedings in either the Northern Irish courts or the courts of England and Wales. As a consumer, you will always benefit from any mandatory consumer protections available under the law of the part of the UK in which you live, regardless of this governing law clause.
Talk to us first. We aim to reply within one business day.
If something has gone wrong with your order, please contact us first at info@outdoorextensionleads.co.uk, by calling +44 7427 230720, or via live chat on our website, so we have the opportunity to put things right directly. We aim to respond to all enquiries within one business day.
If we are unable to resolve a complaint to your satisfaction, you may be entitled to refer the dispute to a certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider under the Alternative Dispute Resolution for Consumer Disputes (Competent Authorities and Information) Regulations 2015. You are also free to seek advice at any time from the Citizens Advice consumer service, or from Trading Standards via your local authority, both of which offer free, impartial guidance on your consumer rights.
If one clause falls away, the rest still stands.
If any provision of these Terms of Service is found by a court or regulator to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, Return & Refund Policy, Shipping Policy and Legal Notice, and the specific details confirmed in your order confirmation, form the entire agreement between you and us in relation to your order, and supersede any prior discussions, understandings or representations, except where those representations were made fraudulently.
Updates are published here, dated clearly, and never applied retroactively to your order.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in our business, our products, or UK law. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised "last updated" date at the top. The version of these Terms of Service in effect at the time you place an order is the version that applies to that order; later changes will not be applied retroactively to an order you have already placed.
